Matt Silverman is the director of social video at The Daily Dot, a publisher that covers Internet culture. Leveraging the virality of Facebook video, his small team is redefining how publishers and brands can monetize marketing efforts through social commerce video. He is also the producer of “2 Girls 1 Podcast,” a popular weekly comedy show that explores fringe online communities. Silverman was formerly the editorial director for Mashable, where he launched its video program in 2013, grew it to 30 million views and added 100,000 subscribers in one year with minimal resources. He also created and co-hosted Mashable’s popular trivia/comedy show 5facts. In 2010, Silverman co-founded The Fluffington Post, a satirical news site about cute animals, which currently boasts more than 250,000 subscribers across social media. In 2016, Silverman created “Free Dad Videos,” a comedic web series about parenting featuring his young children, which has reached more than 4 million viewers. He has written for and directed top talent, including John Oliver, Kevin Bacon, Kate McKinnon, Alton Brown, Adam West, Mayim Bialik, Nick Offerman, Grumpy Cat, and several Sesame Street Muppets.
